I can’t go a single night without thinking about Fugo’s and Giorno’s parallels with one another and how they contrast each other so perfectly
The most noticeable detail being how Purple Haze and Gold Experience have opposing abilities, PH being able to destroy all life surrounding it with just one small capsule (A minor detail that Giorno is the only one immune to the virus, aka immune to the thing Fugo hates most about himself), and GE being able to create life from almost anything it touches.
Another thing that these two have that greatly contrast them are their designs, Gold Experience having a gentler look, more rounded off with lively eyes and a few purple details (the details are only purple in its anime design though) and a shiny looking complexion, while Purple Haze has a rougher look, with a feral glare, the small, golden capsules on its fingers, and a duller color scheme. The most important contrast factor though are their primary colors, them being purple and yellow/gold, two colors that are on the opposite end of the spectrum.
On the subject of color schemes, a very nice detail that DP kept in is how Fugo’s and Giorno’s clothes are also of opposing colors, this time both in the manga and in the anime. In the anime, Fugo has green clothes while Giorno wears a pink suit, while in the manga, Giorno’s clothes are a bright darker shade of blue and Fugo’s are a bright shade of red. Their eyes are blue and red in the manga too.
The most prominent factor that differentiates them from one another though has got to be their personalities, Giorno being the calmest in most situations, using his logic to pull through, while Fugo is very dependent of his feelings, being quick to anger and blindly following what his heart hears is right as you can see in Purple Haze Feedback, which, while regarded by most as non-canon, shows that the reason Fugo stayed behind was simply because he was following what he thought was right, trying to convince everyone else to give in with him because he knew that in the end that would get most, if not all of them killed. It was a decision based on instinct rather than logic.
In the end, Fugo and Giorno have a wonderful dynamic, one which they could both benefit from so much, learning to grow with each other’s help. This dynamic could have also greatly emphasized the emotion behind the original ending Araki had planned for Fugo, which he would betray the gang and Giorno would have had to kill him. Over all, their dynamic could be used for both good, or gut wrenching angst, whichever you favor! I really wish we got to see these two interact more in the series, I feel like it would have added some flare to their development if I’m honest, but I’m still more than happy with what we got in the end, be it canon or semi-canon, like in PHF or Golden Heart Golden Ring.
Underneath his stony exterior, Fugo is really touch-starved. The first time Giorno cuddled with him, he practically melted into his touch. He grew up without much positive physical contact, so he never really knew how much he needed it until he met Giorno.
Both of them love to surprise the other with presents. Giorno would often walk into his office to be greeted with little gifts waiting for him on his desk, and it wasn’t uncommon for Fugo to find little things Giorno had picked up for him scattered throughout their shared home. Both of them were very busy people, and as such, they didn’t have a lot of time to spend with each other; they would give each other gifts to show that they appreciated each other even when they couldn’t be around to tell them.
On the days they had off from work, they would most of their time together just resting. They would read books together or watch movies, grateful to be free of any responsibilities for a while. Giorno might also treat Fugo to spa appointments now and then in an effort to help him relax a bit.
Both Fugo and Giorno would be prone to nightmares, given their troublesome pasts and experiences while working under Passione. When one of them woke up in the middle of the night, frantically thrashing under the covers, the other would pull him close to them, mumbling reassuring words until he fell asleep.
listen fugio means the world to me? i’m on a jjba ship kick right now and i’m just thinking about them…… giorno and fugo both experienced extreme neglect growing up and deal with it in vastly different ways and they’re so good for each other and i wish they had more canon interactions?? let giorno help fugo learn to cope with his emotions in a way that lets him be more calm n less prone to exploding from stress and let fugo be a comforting presence in giornos life that lets him know that he can express things openly because people are actually there to listen to him now….. please i just love them so fucking much
